Since the DAAD Regional Office in Moscow first opened in 1993, its director and employees have conveyed the interests of the DAAD and its members to the agencies of the Russian Federation.
Academic exchange between Germany and the former Soviet Union began in the 1980s. In 1993, the DAAD opened a Regional Office in Moscow at Leninskij Prospekt 95a, where it still operates today.
